2013: PREPARE FOR THE BLOSSOMING OF COMPLEMENTARY CURRENCIES NEXT SPRING

Here is one of the latest of many Complementary Local Currencies to go live. The local currency for Concarneau is called ' La Sardine ' which is fitting since this town was once the largest Sardines fishing port in Europe. Two generations ago, fishermen used to exchange their share of the catch for a variety of goods and services around town, in particular  to pay for their 'petit rouge' at the bar of the local café, given that the Breton tradition meant that their pay in actual money was paid directly to their wives by the company or 'patron pecheur' who employed them ..
